Ghost Hunting At The Switzler House

NEW VIDEO & EVPS!

In July
2011, the Sedalia Ghost Hunters spent two separate evenings at The Switzler House conducting investigations.

They picked up several EVPs and had an extended session of flashlight interaction in the home during their first visit. Strangely, the video camera they had set up to capture the flashlight phenomenon was paused just a few seconds after being turned on. The camera did not make the beeping sound it normally makes when paused, and no one was near the camera when it was paused. The camera has not malfunctioned before or since. The investigators were disappointed that their lengthy interaction with a spirit they came to believe was Adeline Switzler was not recorded, but they did get video of a some flashlight interaction earlier in the evening.

Flashlight Conversation

The investigators captured several EVPs during their visits, including the homeowners' favorite because it seems to confirm what they believe: that the Switzler ghosts are friendly. In this EVP, you can hear the ghost hunters conversing in the background, then a warm welcome from someone else.

"Hello, y'all."

In this EVP, one of the ghost hunters give her opinion that mosquitos have no purpose. Someone seems to agree.

"No."

The ghost hunters debate whether they should go visit the old courthouse now or wait until later. The ghost remains noncommital.

"I don't know."

One ghost hunter tells her partner that there's an outlet "right here" and and outlet "right there." But in case he didn't understand, someone else chimes in.

"Right there."

In this EVP, you can distinctly here a male grunting sound. The owners speculate this might be patriarch Franklin Switzler, who lost his ability to speak before he died.

Following are a collection of EVPs where voices or other sounds can be heard but it's unclear what is being said.

On Oct. 30, 2010, the Sedalia Ghost Hunters gave a paranormal investigation demonstration at The Switzler House during Arrow Rock's annual Spirits, Shadows & Secrets event. During demonstrations with three separate groups that came through the house, the investigators picked up some soft EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena). The Switzler House will once again be a featured venue at Spirits, Shadows & Secrets, Oct. 28 & 29, 2011.

Shortly after the first group arrived and the investigator began asking questions of any entities present, the SGH captured this whispered EVP.

"What?"

There were two EVPs captured during the second group's visit. The first, in the living room, occurred when the investigator asked the entity to knock.

"'kay"

The second occurred in the kitchen. The investigator was talking to the group about metaphysics when the K-II meter flashed and the recorder picked up this EVP.

"No."

The third group had the most visual experience of the evening when a flashlight lying several feet away from anyone in the room came on at the request of the investigator. There were two EVPs recorded during that session. The first is a distinct and quick knocking sound.

Knock, knock, knock

The second was a response when the investigator asked the entity to knock the flashlight off the bed. Some people hear "Get out" when they listen to this response and some hear "No."
